Dhaka: National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has emphasized that transparent, accountable, and ethical financing forms the strong foundation of a political party. In a recent Facebook post titled ‘Finally the Beginning of a New Bangladesh,’ Nahid announced the party’s commitment to transforming the landscape of political financing in the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nahid stated that the NCP, which emerged following the student-led mass uprising in July 2024, has devised a unique ‘finance model’ for its operations. This model is unprecedented in the country’s political arena. Nahid criticized the financial structures of existing political parties, describing them as opaque and flawed, with extortion, tender rigging, and money laundering being primary sources of funding.
In response to these issues, the NCP has introduced a citizen-driven initiative called ‘Your Donation, Future Bangladesh (Apnar Onudaney, Agamir Bangladesh).’ This initiative encourages public contributions to support the party’s activities, aiming to set a new standard for political operations in Bangladesh. Nahid also mentioned various channels for donations, including an official party website, to facilitate these public contributions.
