Dhaka: The government has clarified that reports circulating in media and social platforms about the revocation of recognition for Mujibnagar government leaders as ‘freedom fighters’ during the Liberation War are inaccurate.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the government issued a statement asserting that the gazette of the ‘National Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025’, released recently, explicitly affirms that all members of the Mujibnagar government will continue to be acknowledged as ‘heroic freedom fighters’.
The Mujibnagar government played a pivotal role during the Liberation War, and the recent ordinance ensures that their contributions remain officially recognized. The government’s reassurance aims to dispel any confusion or misinformation regarding the status of these leaders.
