Jhenaidah: Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman today emphasized that the essence of the July Uprising is the establishment of a society devoid of discrimination. Speaking at a ceremony commemorating the martyrs and injured of the July 2024 mass uprising, held at Johan Dream Valley Park auditorium, he criticized the Awami League for its alleged fascist activities, including disappearances and murders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md. Asaduzzaman accused the Awami League of establishing a fascist regime characterized by disappearances, murders, and undermining the electoral system. He warned political leaders and activists against following the Awami League’s path, stating that history would not forgive such actions.

Md. Asaduzzaman alleged that the government led by Sheikh Hasina was responsible for the disappearance of 700 individuals since 2008, and that approximately 4,500 people have been killed without trial over the past 16 years. He claimed that those in power are now fleeing the country, urging citizens to reject the Awami League’s methods.

The Attorney General asserted that since the current government took power, there have been no new cases of disappearances, and the police have not filed any missing person cases. He stressed that the spirit of the July Uprising is centered on creating a just and discrimination-free society in Bangladesh.

The event also featured speeches by District BNP President Advocate MA Majid, District President of Gana Adhikar Parishad lecturer Sakhawat Hossain, District President of the Islamic Andolan HM Momtazul Karim, President of the Jhenaidah Chamber of Commerce Md.
