RAB Intelligence Wing Implicated in Enforced Disappearances: Alam

Dhaka: Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam revealed today that the intelligence wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) operated as a killing force in incidents of enforced disappearances. He shared these findings during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam presented the findings of a report on enforced disappearances, which was submitted to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The report outlines the methods used to make individuals disappear and the fate of many who were killed during the tenure of the ousted Sheikh Hasina government.



Alam further disclosed that the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances has identified approximately 1,350 cases of enforced disappearances, with new cases being discovered regularly. The commission has meticulously scrutinized these cases to uncover the truth behind the disappearances.



The briefing was also attended by Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abdul Kalam Azad Majumder and Senior Assistant Press Secretary Foyez Ahammad.
