Faridpur: Five people, including a father and son, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a three-wheeler at Bablatala area under Bhanga upazila this morning. The tragic accident has shaken the local community as details of the incident emerged.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Mizanur Matubbar, aged 50, son of Latif Matubbar of Chowkighata village in Gharua union of Bhanga, Ebrahim Saadrer, aged 70, and his son Monir Sarder, along with Tara Mia, aged 50, son of Badsha Mia, who were residents of Madbarchar village in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district. The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Barishal highway around 7.00 am when a bus collided head-on with a three-wheeler. This collision resulted in the immediate death of four passengers from the three-wheeler and injured three others, as reported by M Rakibuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Police Station.
The injured individuals were swiftly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll to five. The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region, prompting discussions on measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
