Dhaka: Captain Muhammad Waseem, who led the side to a T20 series victory over Bangladesh, earned the nomination for the ICC Player of the Month for May.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ICC revealed the names of the three nominees, which also included Brendon McMullen of Scotland and Milind Kumar of USA. Led by Waseem, UAE beat Bangladesh in a three-match series by 2-1. Waseem led the side from the front, scoring 54 and 82 in the first two matches and was later adjudged man of the series.

He also contributed in ODIs during this period by scoring 169 runs in five matches while playing as a middle-order batter in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 matches.

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz won this award last month. However, no Bangladesh players were nominated this month following their performance. Bangladesh followed the UAE series loss with a 3-0 series defeat by Pakistan.
