Bhola: Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping and Labor and Employment, Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M Shakhawat Hossain, stated today that the communication system in the southern region has seen significant improvements since the current government came to power. He made these remarks while addressing journalists at the Elisha Ferry Ghat during his visit to Bhola at 2 pm today concerning the introduction of government ferries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Hossain acknowledged ongoing issues with the ferry system, noting that many ferries are old and some continue to operate in Aricha Daulatia. Despite these challenges, he emphasized the advancements made in the transport communication system under the current interim government.
Dr. Hossain highlighted that government ferries have been introduced in several locations to facilitate smoother passenger disembarkation, including Maheshkhali and Sandip. He also mentioned that there is a demand for ferry services in Kutubdia. Dr. Hossain assured that additional ferries are expected to arrive by the end of the year, which will enable the government to extend ferry services across various routes.
