Tangail: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul today announced the launch of Bangladesh's first-ever skill development programme, aimed at training 6,000 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) candidates. The programme is set to commence in Tangail and seeks to address the skill gap, preparing the youth for the competitive global job market. The inaugural event for the skill development courses took place at the Tangail TTC, Nagarpur TTC, and Kalihati TTC.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Nazrul, who also serves as the adviser to the ministry of expatriates' welfare and overseas employment, emphasized the growing demand for skilled labor in the international market. He noted that enhancing workforce capabilities is essential for securing future overseas employment prospects. The programme aims to utilize the six-month gap after SSC exams by providing students with training in computer literacy, graphic design, and other essential skills.
Asif Nazrul further highlighted the emerging opportunities for overseas employment, citing new avenues in Serbia, Romania, and other parts of Europe. Japan has extended an offer to recruit 100,000 workers from Bangladesh. Discussions during a visit to Malaysia indicated plans to recruit the largest number of Bangladeshi workers, while Saudi Arabia and Jordan have committed to maintaining their intake of workers from Bangladesh. Challenges in Bahrain's employment sector are being addressed.
Additionally, an expatriate welfare lounge has been established, and plans are in place to build a hospital specifically for expatriates, which they will own. The event, chaired by Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, also featured speeches by Saleh Ahmed Mozzaffar, Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), and Rashedul Islam, Principal of Tangail TTC, who delivered the welcome speech.
