Dhaka: Nine students of Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall at Dhaka University (DU) on Wednesday received the Provost’s Award for their outstanding results in undergraduate and postgraduate examinations, as well as for their remarkable achievements in sports. Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan presented the awards to the students as the chief guest at a ceremony held in the hall auditorium, said a DU press release here today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, among the awardees, six students were recognized for achieving the highest CGPA in their Bachelor’s (Honors) examinations, while two students excelled in their Master’s examinations. Additionally, one student was honored for exceptional performance in sports, as noted in the statement.
The students who received the awards are Md. Tohidul Islam (Oceanography), Jahur Ahmed and Mohammad Solaiman (Geology), Md. Ehsanul Hoque Mamun (Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering), Kamruzzaman Asif (Institute of Information Technology), Md. Ishtiak Uddin (Electrical and Electronic Engineering), Piyal Sarker (Pharmaceutical Technology), Md. Aminul Kader Bulbul (Computer Science and Engineering), and Muhammad Azizul Hoque (Microbiology).
The VC congratulated the award winners, emphasizing that such initiatives play a crucial role in encouraging and inspiring students. He highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to recognize the talents of its teachers, researchers, and students through various programmes.
The event was presided over by Hall Provost Prof Dr. Muhammad Javed Hossain. Special guests included Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr. Md. Enamul Haq, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof Dr. Kazi Matin Uddin Ahmed, and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr. Upama Kabir.
