Dinajpur: A delegation of the European Union (EU) today visited Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) and the members of the delegation showed interest in the educational program of the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, EU Delegation, Bangladesh First Secretary (Political) Sebastian Rieger Brown led the delegation, which also included Program Manager Jasmine Laila. The visit was facilitated by the university’s Institute of Research and Training (IRT), as confirmed by HSTU Public Relations Department Director Md. Khademul Islam.
During a session in the university’s VIP conference room, Sebastian Rieger Brown discussed the EU’s activities in Bangladesh with HSTU Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Kabir and other faculty representatives. Brown provided a detailed presentation on higher education in Europe, highlighting scholarship opportunities such as Erasmus Mundus.
He noted that Bangladesh has held the third position for several years in terms of applications for the Erasmus Mundus program, with 156 Bangladeshi students selected last year. The EU delegation also expressed interest in organizing a significant educational program with the university students by next October.
Following the presentation, Brown engaged in a question-answer session with faculty and students. Present at the event were HSTU’s VC Professor Dr. Md. Enamullah, Pro VC Professor Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Kabir, and various deans and directors.
IRT Director Professor Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain remarked on the discussions regarding academic and research exchange opportunities. He expressed optimism that these talks would bring significant opportunities for both teachers and students at HSTU. Plans were also made to organize a major international education event with the university’s students.
