Dhaka: The main Jamaat for Eid-ul-Azha in Khulna city is set to be conducted at the Circuit House Eidgah at 7:30am. In the event of adverse weather, the congregation will move to Khulna Town Jam-e-Mosque, with additional Jamaats scheduled there at 8:30am and 10am. Eid prayers will also take place at the Model Mosque near Alia Madrasa at 7:30am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from the Press Information Department (PID)-Khulna confirmed these arrangements on Tuesday afternoon. The Khulna district administration has meticulously planned for the celebrations to ensure they are observed with appropriate solemnity and enthusiasm. The Khulna City Corporation (KCC), alongside ward-level officials, will manage separate Eid congregations in all wards.
To commemorate the occasion, the national flag will be raised on all government, semi-government, private, and autonomous buildings in the morning and lowered before sunset. Major roads, intersections, footpaths, and the Circuit House grounds will be adorned with national flags and banners displaying "Eid Mubarak" in Bengali and Arabic.
As part of the festivities, special meals will be distributed in hospitals, prisons, government children's homes, and various welfare centers. The Islamic Foundation will host seminars and discussions to highlight the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Azha.
Law enforcement agencies are tasked with ensuring tight security throughout the city. Prohibitions are in place against fireworks, firecrackers, temporary stalls blocking roads, loud music, and reckless motorcycle riding. Sand-laden bulkhead movements on the river are also banned. Legal measures will be enforced against eve-teasers and miscreants.
Unauthorized cattle markets are not permitted, with legal consequences for violators. The establishment of makeshift cattle markets near roads, highways, launch terminals, and educational institutions is strictly prohibited. The administration will penalize extortion and illegal toll collections from cattle markets.
Residents are urged to slaughter sacrificial animals only at designated sites and to clean the areas promptly using bleaching powder to prevent pollution and garbage accumulation. Business owners, banks, and financial institutions are advised to implement their own security measures, with law enforcement support available if required.
Furthermore, vigilance teams and mobile courts will be active in cattle markets and at major transportation hubs. Closed-circuit cameras and checkpoints will be installed at key city locations, as detailed in the press release.
