Dhaka: Bangladesh Army today announced that they have no intention of participating in waste management activities during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha or engaging in an anti-mosquito campaign.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this clarification was made through an ISPR statement, countering recent claims by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) administrator.
The ISPR highlighted that a statement from the DNCC administrator, reported by media outlets, suggested that the military would be involved in managing the waste from sacrificial animals and controlling Dengue mosquitoes. The army, however, clarified their position, stating they were unaware of any such plans and have no intention of taking on these responsibilities in the future.
In the context of the current situation, the ISPR emphasized that the army remains committed to ensuring the nation’s sovereignty and public safety. They further stated that it would be more appropriate for the relevant agencies to handle tasks such as waste management and mosquito control.
