Dhaka: The government has officially launched the Industrial Property Administration System (IPAS 4.0) software aiming to enhance the protection of intellectual property within the country. This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing intellectual property management in Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, IPAS is an internationally recognized system, already in successful operation across various countries with the assistance of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The launch event, held at the Industries Ministry conference room, was led by Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, who inaugurated the software for the Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT).
During the event, Adilur Rahman Khan emphasized that the introduction of the IPAS 4.0 software signifies Bangladesh’s entry into a fully automated era for managing intellectual property. He further stated that the software would enhance the efficiency of patent, design, and trademark services, aligning them with international standards.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures including WIPO Representative Hisham Adel Elhosseiny Fayed and the Director General of the DPDT, Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, highlighting the collaborative effort in advancing the country’s intellectual property framework.
