Sylhet: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Taka one crore 42 lakh and 37 thousand from the Sylhet and Sunamganj border areas this morning. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion, confirmed the matter to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, multiple special teams conducted operations in Banglabazar, Sonalichela, Sangram, Pratappur, Tamabil, and Bisanakandi border areas. The operations resulted in the confiscation of a large quantity of Indian blazer fabrics, skin care creams, sunglasses, three-piece suits, sarees, lehengas, Pond’s face wash, hair oil, chocolates, cumin, Navratna powder, cows, betel nuts, and horn fish.
The smugglers managed to flee the scene upon sensing the presence of the BGB forces. The process of depositing the seized goods with the Customs Office is currently underway.
