Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today announced that the waste from sacrificial animals will be cleared within 12 hours during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival. Following a meeting focused on enhancing the management of cattle markets and rawhide sales, Chowdhury disclosed that assurances have been received from both Dhaka city corporations regarding the timely disposal of waste.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chowdhury emphasized the urgency of clearing the animal waste swiftly and urged all involved parties to act promptly. He noted that historically, 90 to 95 percent of sacrificial animals are slaughtered on Eid day, with the remainder in the following two days. The Dhaka city corporations have reportedly implemented all necessary measures to ensure the waste is handled expeditiously.

In comments to the press post-meeting, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz stated that instructions have been issued to relevant personnel to prepare for the rapid cleaning of sacrificial animal waste. Azaz confirmed that the landfills designated for waste disposal during the three days of Eid are fully prepared, having personally inspected them.

Furthermore, the DNCC administrator mentioned plans to provide overtime compensation to drivers of waste collection vehicles and incentives to cleaners for extended work hours, ensuring the efficiency of the waste disposal process.
