Dhaka: Bangladesh Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) confirmed their spot in the semifinal of the 35th National Men's Handball competition by eliminating their respective rivals at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital today. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ansar, who emerged as the group leader, defeated Jessore District Sports Association (DSA) with a score of 46-14, having led the first half by 17-7 goals. Similarly, BGB, also group champions, triumphed over Chattogram DSA with a commanding score of 54-13, after dominating the first half by 27-4 goals. In other matches, Mymensingh DSA overcame Madaripur DSA by 40-22 goals, leading the first half by 23-8 goals. Faridpur DSA outplayed Joypurhat DSA with a score of 32-21, after a first-half lead of 16-10 goals. Additionally, Jamalpur DSA overpowered Gaibandha DSA with a 38-25 victory, leading 18-12 at halftime. Joypurhat DSA also outclassed Gaibandha DSA with a 36-30 win, following a 16-16 draw in the first half.
