Chattogram: Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today emphasized the importance of implementing development works in both urban and remote areas of the hilly region. "It is very crucial for implementing development works in remote areas of the hilly region alongside urban areas," Chakma stated while addressing a workshop on the Grievance Redress System (GRS) at the Chattogram district council this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop was organized by the Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry and was chaired by Additional Secretary M Manirul Islam. The event saw participation from several key figures, including CHT Affairs Secretary M Abdul Khaleque, Joint Secretaries Atul Sarker and Kankan Chakma, Rangamati Hill Tracts district council Chairman Krishibid Kajal Talkuder, district council CEO Khondoker Mohammad Rezaul Karim, and civil surgeon Nuwen Khisa.
During the workshop, Chakma highlighted that while 70 percent of development work is occurring in Sadar upazila, at least 30 percent should also be conducted at the upazila level. He further noted the importance of involving women entrepreneurs in the development of the hill tract areas.
