Dhaka: The authorities of Bangladesh Railway (BR) have urged passengers to purchase tickets exclusively through online platforms or ticket counters. "Ticket seekers are requested to buy tickets from online platforms and counters," stated Rezaul Karim Siddiquee, senior information officer at the Ministry of Railways.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there is no alternative method for purchasing advance train tickets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, which is set to be celebrated on June 7 or 8. Rezaul Karim Siddiquee emphasized the importance of following this procedure to ensure a smooth ticketing process.

Earlier, Director General of BR Md Afzal Hossain mentioned that all advance train tickets are being sold online. He added that any unsold tickets will be available at the counters during the final phase. To facilitate smooth journeys during the festive period, five pairs of special trains will operate. Additionally, return tickets will be available for purchase from May 30.

Ticket sales began on May 21, with sales commencing at 8:00 am for western zone trains and at 2:00 pm for eastern zone trains. In total, around 33,315 seats are available on 43 intercity trains departing from Dhaka. Each passenger is allowed to purchase up to four tickets per user ID, and 25 percent of the tickets will be sold as standing tickets at the counters.
