Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has issued a directive to regional election officers to expedite the processing of applications for corrections in the National Identity Card (NID). This initiative aims to ensure that applications are swiftly sent to the designated 'table' for resolution.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the directive was signed by Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, Director (Administration and Finance) of the National Identity Registration Division of the Election Commission. It was dispatched to field-level regional election officers on Tuesday. The directive outlines a new streamlined process for handling NID correction applications.
The directive specifies that applications related to the National Identity Card service will be categorized into 'general, expatriate, and employee' categories. This classification allows for the efficient handling of three separate investigation reports, which have been approved by the Secretariat. The investigation officer is required to determine the occupation type of the applicant and complete the relevant 'table' (T-1, T-2, or T-3). The completed table is then sent electronically to the settling officer as an advance letter, accompanied by the opinion memorandum number.
