Dhaka: Bangladeshi citizens are now receiving visa facilities from Kuwait without requiring any special approval, according to Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan. He shared this development in a verified Facebook post.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser revealed that this change in visa policy was officially disclosed by the Ambassador to Kuwait, Major General Syed Tareque Hossain. For the past week, Bangladeshis have been able to secure these visa facilities, a matter that had not been publicly announced until now. Additionally, the ambassador has issued a strong warning against any attempts at visa forgery.
In a separate post, the adviser expressed concerns over irregularities by scheduled banks in foreign currency transactions. He highlighted that many banks are imposing excessive service fees, commissions, and varying passport endorsement charges when selling foreign currency, which discourages customers from using formal channels.
To address this issue, the government has introduced a fixed passport endorsement fee for the first time. "Banks can now charge a maximum of Taka 300 as the passport endorsement fee," Sajib stated. "Bangladesh Bank set the rate on Sunday, and banks are not permitted to charge any additional fee beyond the fixed endorsement amount," he added.
