Rajshahi: Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud has stated that the Awami League (AL) will be unable to participate in upcoming elections unless the stay order on its registration is repealed. The announcement was made during the inauguration of a daylong training session at the Regional Public Administration Training Centre.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the interim government has prohibited AL activities, and the Election Commission has upheld a stay on the party’s registration. As a result, the party currently lacks the legal authority to partake in electoral processes. This statement was emphasized by Election Commissioner Masud while discussing the commission’s readiness to conduct elections as scheduled by the Chief Adviser.
The training, organized by the Regional Election Office, was focused on “Voter List Updating-2025, Subsequent Evaluation and Sustainable Development Planning” and aimed to equip election officials with the necessary skills and knowledge. Commissioner Masud assured that the election preparations are in full swing, stating that there is no shortfall in their readiness to execute the electoral process.
Prior to the training, Masud engaged in discussions with administrative and police officials at the Circuit House conference hall. The meeting was attended by notable figures including Election Commission Senior Secretary Akter Ahmed, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Habibur Rahman, and other key regional officials.
