Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Farida Akhter, has announced that mobile veterinary clinics will be established in each cattle market designated for sacrificial animals. These clinics will be set up by district-level offices of the Department of Livestock Services and will be staffed by veterinary surgeons who will provide necessary treatment to the animals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farida Akhter shared this initiative during a meeting with divisional and district-level officials of the Department of Livestock Services at the Circuit House conference hall. She emphasized the importance of healthcare services not only for animals but also for the people who are in close contact with them, ensuring that proper health measures are in place.
Farida Akhter also mentioned efforts to prevent the influx of animals from neighboring countries. The Home Ministry has instructed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and River Police to monitor this situation strictly. Additionally, she advocated for providing power supply to the poultry and dairy sectors at a subsidized rate, similar to the agriculture sector.
The event was attended by key figures including Muhammad Ejaj, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation; Faruque Wasif, Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh; Dr. Ananda Kumar Adhikery, Divisional Director of the Department of Livestock; Saifuddin Yeahiya, Divisional Director of the Department of Fisheries; Jahangir Alam, District Fisheries Officer; and Dr. Atowar Rahman, District Livestock Officer.
