Rangpur: Vice-chancellor of Islamic Arabic University (IAU) Professor Dr. Md. Shamsul Alam emphasized the necessity of Islamic education in establishing a non-discriminatory moral society. He highlighted that the IAU is committed to creating an ideal society through the integration of contemporary Islamic and modern education, aiming to develop skilled manpower essential for a discrimination-free, prosperous moral society. He underscored the significance of Madrasa education in achieving this vision.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Alam noted that Madrasa education incorporates modern, contemporary, and religious education, making it crucial for societal development. His remarks were made during his speech as the chief guest at the Rangpur divisional views-exchange meeting, titled "Improving the Quality of Madrasa Education," organized by the university at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium.
The event saw participation from principals and vice-principals of 178 madrasas across Rangpur division's eight districts. Special guests included IAU Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam and Treasurer ASM Mamunur Rahman Khalili. The meeting, moderated by Registrar Md. Ayub Hossain, was presided over by Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. M. Abu Jafor Khan.
Key discussions were led by Dean of the University's Kamil (Postgraduate) Education, Training and Research Center Professor Dr. Mohammad Oli Ullah, Dean of the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Center Professor Dr. Muhammad Shazaat Ullah Farooqui, Registrar Md. Ayub Hossain, and Controller of Examinations Mohammad Ali. Dr. Alam emphasized that religious education is paramount for building a corruption-free society and that Madrasa students should be nurtured into capable citizens to lead society and the state.
Dr. Alam expressed aspirations for madrasas to produce qualified scholars and competent manpower, contributing to a prosperous society and state devoid of injustice, irregularities, and corruption. He assured that IAU would soon be free from session jams, with a timely and high-quality course curriculum, while also enhancing opportunities for advanced research.
Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam highlighted that Madrasa education could play a pivotal role in building a discrimination-free nation, as it equally prioritizes worldly and afterlife issues. Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. M. Abu Jafor Khan advocated for the dissemination of modern and contemporary education within madrasas, ensuring students become worthy citizens.
The principals and vice-principals attending the meeting urged the government to increase funding for madrasas and called for teacher training to bolster the education system.
