Dhaka: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has reported that a mild to moderate heat wave is currently affecting large parts of the country and is expected to persist.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the heat wave is sweeping over the divisions of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, and Chattogram, as well as parts of Rajshahi and Khulna. It is also impacting the districts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram, and Moulvibazar, as per a BMD bulletin released this morning.
Meanwhile, the regions of Rajshahi and Chuadanga are experiencing a severe heat wave, with temperatures reaching record levels of 40 degrees Celsius and 41.2 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Friday.
The lowest temperature recorded today was 22 degrees Celsius in Sylhet. BMD meteorologist Md. Shaheenul Islam stated that the weather is likely to remain mostly dry, with partly cloudy skies over the country. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
In Dhaka, the sun is set to set at 6:32 pm today and rise at 5:18 am tomorrow.
