Dhaka: Sirajganj police have arrested a youth from Uttara of Dhaka city on charges of killing an SSC candidate named Imon in Sirajgonj. The arrested individual, Sakib, is the son of Ranjit Hossain from Naramuri village under Belkuchi Upazila of Sirajgonj district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police and the victim's family sources revealed that Imon, 16, was an SSC examinee from Khukni High School of Enayetpur thana. The incident occurred on April 18 when miscreants attacked Imon and his friends in the Daulatpur area. During the attack, Imon was chased and beaten by the assailants.
Following the incident, Imon was critically injured and taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on April 25. Subsequently, Imon's father, Imdadul Haque, filed a murder case with Belkuchi thana on April 27, accusing 10-12 individuals.
Sakib, one of the accused in the case, went into hiding after the incident, as stated by the investigating officer of the case, sub-inspector Saiful Islam of Belkuchi Thana.
