Rangamati: Adviser of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, Supradip Chakma, has urged the members of the Buddhist community to come together with a shared commitment to peace and harmony, aiming to build a society focused on social welfare. He made these remarks while addressing devotees during this year's Buddha Purnima celebration at the Tabalchhari Ananda Bihar Multipurpose Hall.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Supradip Chakma expressed his dedication to the welfare and development of the Buddhist community. He emphasized the importance of understanding and embracing the natural cycle of life, work, consciousness, death, and rebirth, as outlined in Buddhism. This spiritual philosophy addresses life's challenges, such as sorrow, illness, grief, and suffering, and promotes overcoming them through morality, meditation, and wisdom.
Chakma encouraged individuals to engage in good deeds and to distance themselves from misconduct. He, along with his wife Nandita Chakma, participated in prayers aimed at ensuring the welfare, happiness, peace, and prosperity of all people, including Buddhists.
The event was inaugurated by Chakma Raja Barrister Raja Debashish Ray, with Bhadanta Shraddhalangkar Mahathero, president of the Rangamati Baishakhi Purnima Udjapon Parishad, presiding over the ceremony. Notable speakers included Deputy Sangharaj of Parbatta Vikkhu Sangha Bangladesh Bhadanta Progyananada Mahathero, Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Kajol Talukder, former deputy minister Moni Swapan Dewan, and retired joint secretary Krishna Chandra.
