South African Emerging Women’s Team Clinches Series Against Bangladesh

Chattogram: The visiting South African Emerging Women’s team secured victory in the three-match one-day series against Bangladesh, clinching the series with one match to spare. They achieved this feat by winning the second game by two wickets in a close contest at the Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Emerging Women’s team, after opting to bat first, was bowled out for a modest 151 runs in 49 overs. Despite the low total, they managed to keep the contest competitive.



The South African team, however, maintained composure during the crucial moments of the match to secure the win in the final over, reaching 152-8 with four balls remaining. Gandhi Papama Hlumela Jafta led the scoring for South Africa with 52 runs, supported by Eliz Mari Max, who finished unbeaten on 31.



For Bangladesh, Sanjida Akhter Meghla, Sabekun Nahar, and Shorna Akter each took two wickets. Captain Sharmin Sultana Supta topped the scoring for Bangladesh with 59 runs, while Farzana Yasmin contributed 44.



The third and final one-day match between the two teams is scheduled for Sunday. Following this series, they will proceed to Cox’s Bazar for a three-match T20 series.
