Lightning Strike Claims Lives of Two Schoolgirls and Farmer in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj: Two schoolgirls and a farmer lost their lives after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Pakundia and Mithamoin upazilas of Kishoreganj district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victims have been identified as Irina and Priya, both 15-year-old students from Charteki village in Pakundia upazila, and Kadu Mia, a 35-year-old farmer from Chamakpur Dakshin Hati in Mithamoin upazila. Irina and Priya were ninth-grade students at Charteki Girls School and College.



The tragic incident involving the schoolgirls occurred when they were caught in a storm while returning home from school around noon. They were immediately taken to Pakundia Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor confirmed their deaths. Md. Sakhawat Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Pakundia Police Station, provided these details.



In a separate incident, farmer Kadu Mia was struck by lightning while working in a paddy field in the Chamkpur Dakshin Hati area. He was rushed to Mithamoin Upazila Health Complex, where he was later pronounced dead, as confirmed by Md. Shafiul Alam, the officer-in-charge of Mithamoin Police Station.
