Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has expressed gratitude to the countrymen, including her party leaders and activists, for their support and love during her four-month stay in London for medical treatment. BNP Standing Committee member and Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, shared this information during a briefing in front of the BNP chairperson’s residence in Gulshan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Khaleda Zia’s motorcade arrived at her Gulshan residence ‘Firoza’ after traveling from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. She returned to Bangladesh from London in a special air ambulance, provided by the Emir of Qatar, following treatment at the London Clinic and under the supervision of physicians from Johns Hopkins University Hospital in the USA.

Dr Zahid Hossain stated, “Alhamdulillah, our leader Begum Khaleda Zia is now doing very well. She is also mentally stable.” Khaleda Zia also extended her thanks to the chief adviser, law enforcement agencies, and media personnel for their cooperation during her travel to and from London.

Although Khaleda Zia managed the 14-hour journey well, Dr Zahid mentioned that she is a little tired physically but remains mentally stable. She has requested prayers from the countrymen for her continued good health. Additionally, Dr Zahid conveyed gratitude from Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Qatari authorities for providing a royal special air ambulance free of cost.
