Lakshmipur: A five-day mobile book fair initiated by the Biswa Sahitya Kendra was inaugurated here today, aimed at creating enthusiasm among students over book reading. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Razib Kumar Sarkar inaugurated the book fair where visitors will be able to read books from 2pm to 8pm every day.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, there is a 30 percent discount on books of Biswa Sahitya Kendra, while a 25 percent discount is available on books from other publishers. The discounts are expected to draw in a larger crowd, encouraging more people to participate in the event and cultivate a reading habit.
Convener of the book fair, Amit Chakraborty, moderated the inaugural ceremony. Additional Deputy Commissioner JP Dewan and District President of Conscious Citizens Committee Professor ZM Farooqui were also present at the function, among others. Their presence highlighted the importance of such cultural events in promoting literacy and education in the region.
