Doha: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged global investors to bring their investments to Bangladesh, highlighting the country’s immense business potential. He made this appeal during a private business reception on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha on Tuesday evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus described Bangladesh as an amazing country with significant economic possibilities. He noted that unlike its close neighbors, Nepal and Bhutan, and the seven sister states of India, Bangladesh has access to the ocean, which could turn it into a flourishing economic hub. Prof Yunus emphasized the potential of Bangladesh’s educated young populace, adept with technology, in transforming the nation into a production hub.
He encouraged foreign enterprises to relocate their factories to Bangladesh, offering assurances of comprehensive support from his interim government. Prof Yunus mentioned that a recent investment summit in Bangladesh received a tremendous response from global investors.
Prof Yunus also pointed out Bangladesh’s status as the eighth most populous country in the world, with approximately 180 million people living in a densely populated area. He highlighted that half of the population is under the age of 37, characterized by their access to technology and knowledge.
Focusing on the recent student-led uprising, Prof Yunus remarked on the significant role played by young women and girls throughout the country, describing it as an amazing scene. Additionally, he elaborated on efforts by his interim government to rectify the sectors of the economy, judiciary, and more, which he claimed had been damaged by the previous government during its 16-year tenure.
