Chattogram: Members of the Coast Guard have successfully arrested a man and seized firearms along with a large quantity of yaba tablets in the coastal area of Gohira, Anowara Thana. The arrest took place yesterday and has raised significant concern over the trafficking of illegal substances in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestee has been identified as Showkat Ali, a resident of Anowara Thana. Acting on a tip-off, a dedicated team from the Coast Guard conducted a raid in the area which led to the apprehension of Showkat. During the operation, the authorities confiscated one country-made gun, three rounds of ammunition, and an alarming 30,000 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession.
The incident underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and illegal arms possession in the region. Legal proceedings have been initiated against Showkat Ali as authorities continue to investigate the source and intended distribution of the contraband.
