Six AL Activists Held in Khulna

Khulna: Police arrested six more leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated bodies, including district unit AL Vice-President and former President of Khulna Lawyers Association, advocate M M Mujibur Rahman, from different areas of the city in the last 24 hours. A team of police conducted raids in the Harintana thana area last night and detained them, said Md Ahsan Habib, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other arrestees are Robiul Alam Robi, 51, Milon Roy Chowdhury, 53, Borhan Sheikh, 52, Ashit Bagchi, 45, and Bayezid Sheikh, 32. Police arrested them after analyzing video footages and pictures of a procession, he said, adding that drives will continue to arrest the accused AL men.



On Sunday, AL activists brought out processions at several points in the city, including zero point and Mohila College Road in Boyra. Police on Sunday night filed cases against 300 leaders and activists of the AL and its front organizations with three police stations in the area.
