EU Ambassador Meets Dhaka University Vice Chancellor to Discuss Academic Collaboration

Dhaka: European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller met Dhaka University (DU) Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan at the latter’s office here today: During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interests particularly possibilities of strengthening academic and research cooperation on new technology, curriculum development and knowledge sharing among DU and different universities in Europe, said a DU press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, they also discussed about undertaking the ‘Capacity Building for Higher Education Program’ and a ‘Clean-up’ campaign at DU, with support from the EU. Prof Khan provided a briefing on the history of the country’s oldest university and its ongoing education and research activities. He sought support and cooperation from the EU to further enhance the university’s education and research capabilities.



Ambassador Miller assured that the EU would extend its support by all possible means. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the relationship between academia and industry to create job opportunities for youths. Furthermore, Miller expressed his keen interest in establishing a ‘Jean Monnet Chair’ at DU to develop the skills of students and young faculty members.
