Lahore: Bangladesh Women’s team achieved a milestone by recording their highest total in Women’s One Day Internationals (WODIs) history, scoring 276-6 in their third match of the Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifier at Gaddafi Stadium today. This impressive feat surpassed their previous highest total of 271-3, which they achieved against Thailand in the same tournament just five days ago.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match against Scotland was marked by captain Nigar Sultana Joty’s outstanding performance. Joty scored an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, hitting 11 fours. Her form has been exceptional throughout the tournament, with a record-breaking 101 against Thailand and a significant 51 against Ireland in earlier matches.

Opener Farzana Hoque and Sharmin Akhter Supta also made notable contributions, each scoring 57 runs to support Joty’s efforts. After electing to bat first, Bangladesh overcame an early setback with the loss of Ishma Tanjim for just 14 runs. Farzana and Sharmin built a solid foundation with a 103-run partnership for the second wicket.

Despite losing both openers in quick succession, Bangladesh maintained momentum through Joty’s aggressive play, leading to a record-breaking total. A win against Scotland would mark their third consecutive victory, significantly boosting their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
