Rajshahi: The Crisis Response Team (CRT) of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) is playing a crucial role in tackling terrorism, trafficking, and drug-related issues in the region. Police officials highlighted this during the inauguration of a two-week training improvement course for CRT members at the RMP Police Lines conference hall.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training program was organized by RMP in collaboration with the US Department of State Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) and the US Embassy in Dhaka. The event featured speeches from RMP Commissioner Muhammad Abu Sufiyan, Additional Commissioners Nazmul Hassan and Rakibul Hassan Ibne Rahman, and ATA Instructor Richard Roman.

Commissioner Abu Sufiyan emphasized the importance of training for enhancing competence and urged participants to prioritize the training to effectively handle any crisis. He explained that the RMP formed the CRT to address major disruptive and violent activities, including terrorism and drug trafficking, in the city.

The 24-member CRT has been developed to mirror the capabilities of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams through relevant training.
