Dhaka: Police in separate operations arrested two individuals accused in a gang rape case from Dhaka and Chattogram on April 6 and 8. The arrested individuals were identified as Md. Hasib Chowdhury, aged 27, and Atiq Hossain Bhuiyan, aged 29.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a press release from the police revealed that a team from Tejgaon Police Station apprehended the accused in the capital’s Airport Police Station area and the Chandgaon area of Chattogram. In addition to the arrests, law enforcers seized a private car, pen drives, laptops, and mobile phones, which contained videos of multiple sexual assaults.

The police stated that Hasib Chowdhury had established contact with the rape victim through Instagram about a month prior. This online interaction eventually led to a friendship. On April 4, Hasib invited the victim for a drive in his private car, where his friend Atiq was also present. They drove around various parts of the city before deciding to head home around 9:30 pm.

During the ride
, the accused allegedly coerced the victim into consuming alcohol mixed with a soft drink, impairing her consciousness.
