Basundhara: Police have arrested a drug dealer from the Basundhara residential area under Vatara police station. Tafsir, 30, was arrested yesterday, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Police Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of DMP, said today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Vatara police went to a residential building after receiving information about a suicide case. They recovered the body of a woman and brought her husband, Tafsir, to the police station for interrogation. During questioning, Tafsir admitted his involvement in drug trafficking.
Based on Tafsir's confession, police raided his house and recovered 86 kg of hemp, valued at approximately Taka 11 lakh. A case has been filed with the Vatara thana in connection with this under the drugs control act.
The body of the deceased was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, according to police.
