Rajshahi: A five-day graffiti and calligraphy painting workshop commenced here on Tuesday, highlighting the significance and importance of the anti-discrimination students' movement. The workshop, organized by the Fine Arts Division, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), is being held on the Rajshahi academy premises.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BSA Director Mostofa Zaman, accompanied by Deputy Director Prodyat Kumar Das and Instructor Zannatul Ferdous Keya, inaugurated the workshop. Prominent artists, including former Vice-chancellor of the International University of Scholars Prof Abdus Sattar, Artist Ibrahim Mondal, and artists from the Fine Arts Faculty at Rajshahi University, Monika Amelia, Ariful Islam, and Raihan Ahmed, are participating in the workshop.
Mostofa Zaman mentioned, in a conversation with BSS, that similar workshops are planned for Khulna, Chattogram, and Mymensingh as well. "We have already held a five-day painting workshop in Dhaka for the first time from March 12 to 16 successfully," he added.
In each of the workshops, ten artists will paint two graffiti and calligraphy pieces each. More than 100 fine arts pieces will be collected from the five districts, and an exhibition will be held in Dhaka with the collected artworks. As a tribute to the movement, the artworks will be preserved for future generations, Mostofa added.
