Khulna: A preparation meeting to celebrate the Bangla New Year-1432 was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office. Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Saiful Islam presided over the meeting.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting outlined the plans for the celebration, which include a colourful procession, Mangal Shovajatra, starting at 8:00 am from the premises of the Khulna Railway Station and concluding at Shaheed Hadis Park on Pahela Baishakh. Additionally, artists from local cultural institutions, including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Khulna, will organize a discussion meeting and cultural function at the same venue.
To commemorate the day, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Khulna will conduct art and essay competitions for children and distribute prizes to the winners. The Khulna divisional museum will also be open to the public. Traditional foods will be served at the district jail and orphanages to mark Pahela Baishakh.
The meeting emphasized the importance of refraining from any activities during the Mangal Shovajatra that might offend religious sentiments. Several key officials, including Executive Officer of Khulna Zila Parishad Taslima Akter, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mondal, Senior Assistant Commissioner of KMP Shihab Karim, and Member Secretary of Khulna Press Club Rofiul Islam Tutul, addressed the meeting.
