According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, freedom fighters have recounted Ziaur Rahman's proclamation, noting its impact on a nation suddenly facing brutal atrocities. Major General K M Safiullah, a Sector-3 Commander during the Liberation War, documented Zia's declaration in his book "Bangladesh At War." Safiullah described Zia's actions on March 25 and subsequent radio announcements declaring independence on behalf of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Ziaur Rahman elaborated on his announcement in his article 'Birth of a Nation,' published in 1972, recounting the events of March 25 and the battalion's revolt for independence. This account is also referenced in Mahfuz Ullah's book "President Zia of Bangladesh: A Political Biography."
Former Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed and Indian journalist Jyoti Sen Gupta have acknowledged Ziaur Rahman's role in proclaiming independence. Additionally, various books and reports by individuals such as Muyeedul Hasan, A K Khondker, S R Mirza, and Indian army officer Sukhanto Singh provide further confirmation of Zia's announcements and their effects during the liberation movement.
