Government Boosts Mobile Sales of Essential Goods During Ramadan

Dhaka: The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has initiated measures to ensure a steady supply and stable pricing of essential animal protein products during the holy month of Ramadan. From the 1st to the 28th of Ramadan, mobile sales of dressed broilers, eggs, pasteurized milk, and beef at affordable prices are taking place in Dhaka and across the country, as stated in a press release today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, milk, eggs, dressed broiler, and beef worth Taka 19,83,54,768 have been sold through mobile sales centers to a total of 6,09,430 buyers nationwide as of March 19. This initiative has contributed to stabilizing the supply and prices of meat, eggs, and milk throughout the country.



The initiative prioritizes areas with high public participation during the July Uprising, resulting in the establishment of 25 mobile sales centers in Dhaka from the start of Ramadan. From March 23, an additional 23 centers will be set up in Dhaka, three in Narayanganj, and 14 across seven divisional offices, funded by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock’s budgetary allocation.



Under this initiative, eggs are being sold at Taka 100 per dozen, dressed broiler chicken at Taka 250 per kg, pasteurized milk at Taka 80 per litre, and beef at Taka 650 per kg.



The 25 ongoing mobile sales centers in Dhaka are located near the Secretariat, Khamarbari (Farmgate), 60 Feet Road (Mirpur), Azimpur Maternity Hospital (Azimpur), Naya Bazar (Old Dhaka), Banasree, Hazaribagh (Section), Arambagh (Motijheel), Mohammadpur (Babar Road), Kalshi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (Maniknagar), Shahjadpur (Badda), Korail Slum, Banani, Kamrangirchar, Khilgaon (South of Railway Crossing), Nakhal Para (Lukas Mor), Segunbagicha (Kacha Bazar), Bosila (Mohammadpur), Uttara (House Building), Rampura (Bazar), Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpar), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangabazar), and Kakrail.



Additional mobile sales locations in Dhaka and Narayanganj include Asad Gate (Town Hall), Lalmatia Women’s College, Shankar Plaza, Jigatola (Kaiser Sweetmeat), Azimpur (Gate 3), New Paltan, Elephant Road (in front of Eastern Mallika), Jurain Kacha Bazar, Tatibazar, Gabtoli Mazar Road, Mirpur 6 Bazar, Shewrapara, Kachukhet Bazar, Uttara Azampur Kacha Bazar, Merul Badda, Moghbazar Mor, Green Road, behind Bashundhara Evercare Hospital, Basabo Buddhist Temple, Middle Badda Link Road, Joar Sahara, Uttara Khalpar, Rampura Hajipara, Lalbagh Orphanage, DC Office Chan Mari, Chashara Chattar, and Tarakar Math (Kutubpur).
