Dhaka: Police today arrested former panel mayor Advocate Memori Sufia Rahman Shunu from her residence in the Boyra area of the city. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Detective Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), Taymur Hossain, stated that police conducted a drive at Shunu's residence and arrested her in connection with three cases, including one related to the vandalism of the Khalishpur unit BNP office.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shunu also holds the position of women's affairs secretary of the Khalishpur thana unit of Mohila Awami League (AL). She is set to be produced before a Khulna court with a remand prayer, as mentioned by OC Taymur.
Her husband, Faruk Ahmed, the organizing secretary of the city unit AL, is also an accused in the cases. OC Taymur added that Faruk has been absconding since August 5 last year.
