Dhaka: Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mansour Chavoshi met with Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat to discuss bilateral issues, focusing on enhancing trade and investment between the two nations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting highlighted the current trade volume between Iran and Bangladesh, which both parties agreed was underwhelming given their potential. The Commerce Adviser emphasized the mutual benefits that could arise from improved trade relations and encouraged Iran to invest more in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.
Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi acknowledged the historical cultural and religious ties between the two countries, stating that despite these connections, the bilateral trade relationship lacks a strong foundation. He expressed Iran’s interest in strengthening its trade relationship with Bangladesh.
Present at the meeting were Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and Export Promotion Bureau Vice Chairman Md Anwar Hossain, among others.
