Met Office Forecasts Rain Over Parts of Country

Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted rain or thundershowers at one or two places over Sylhet division for the next 24 hours, beginning from this morning.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind with hails at isolated places are likely to occur at one or two places over Sylhet division. The weather may remain dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, as stated in a Met office bulletin.



A trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal and the adjoining area, while a seasonal low lies over the South Bay. Day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged, but night temperatures may fall slightly across the country.



A mild heat wave is currently affecting the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj, Kushtia, and Rangamati. The maximum temperature recorded in the country on Saturday was 37.5 degrees Celsius at Kumarkhali, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 19.0 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.



Sylhet also recorded the highest rainfall in the country over the last twenty-four hours, with 68 millimeters (mm) noted till 6 am today. The sun is set to set at 6.08 pm today and will rise at 6.06 am tomorrow in the capital.
