Chuadanga: A total of 1,47,930 children under the age of five in Chuadanga district will be administered vitamin A-plus capsules on March 15. The campaign will be conducted across four upazilas, utilizing 906 centers throughout the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the initiative was announced by civil surgeon Dr. Hadi Zia Uddin Ahmed during a press conference. Dr. Ahmed detailed that high-powered vitamin A capsules, in blue color, will be given to children aged between 6 months and 11 months, while red color capsules will be provided to those aged between 11 and 59 months. The vitamin A campaign is conducted every six months.
Vitamin A is essential in preventing blindness in children and ensuring their normal growth. It also plays a significant role in reducing child mortality by 24 percent and in decreasing deaths caused by measles, diarrhea, and pneumonia.
