Khulna: Fifty-three individuals who sustained injuries during the student-led mass uprising last year were provided with financial assistance of Taka one lakh each. Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter distributed the financial aid at an event organized by the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation at Khulna Shilpokola Academy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farida Akhter emphasized the Interim government's commitment to offering financial support and necessary treatment to the injured individuals of the July movement for as long as required. During her address, she called on all citizens to build a social resistance against violence and repression, particularly against women. She encouraged students to play a proactive role in eradicating such issues from the society.
Akhter also announced the establishment of a new department under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. This department will focus on providing ongoing support to the families of the martyrs and the injured individuals from the uprising. The event also featured speeches from Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mughdo, the Chief Executive Officer of the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation, along with senior government officials.
