Sherpur: A total of 15 people, including women and children, suffered injuries after being bitten by a rabid dog in four villages within Sribardi upazila last night. The affected areas include Bakshabaid, Ijarapara, Daherpar, and Munshipara.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident began when a rabid dog started attacking residents in Bakshabaid village. The dog then proceeded to other nearby villages, resulting in injuries to approximately 15 individuals, including men, women, and children.
The injured were promptly transported to Sribardi Upazila Health Complex and Sherpur Sadar Hospital for treatment. Locals played a crucial role in rescuing the victims and ensuring they received medical attention.
In response to the attacks, the locals managed to kill the dog later that night. Moniruzzaman, deputy assistant community medical officer at Sribardi Upazila Health Complex, confirmed that all injured individuals received government-supplied vaccines and first aid upon their arrival at the healthcare facilities.
