One Killed, Two Injured in Birganj Motorcycle-Truck Collision

Dinajpur: A man died and two others were injured in a collision between a truck and their motorcycle in Birganj upazila of the district here today. The deceased was Ajhar Ali, 62, a cow trader from Gorfatu village in Shotogram union under the upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birganj police station Abdul Gafur confirmed the incident this noon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred at Prem bazaar on Birganj-Kaharol road at 1:30 pm. Eyewitnesses reported that the three individuals were traveling to Kaharol mart to purchase cows from Birganj on a motorcycle when a truck from the opposite direction collided head-on with them. Ajhar Ali died on the spot.



The two other passengers on the motorcycle sustained critical injuries. Local residents promptly rescued them and transported them to Dinajpur Medical College for treatment. OC Abdul Gafur stated that police have recovered the body from the scene and it will be handed over to Ali’s family after completing legal procedures.



The police have seized the truck involved in the accident, though the driver and the helper managed to flee the scene.
