Dhaka: A court here today issued an arrest warrant against e-commerce platform Qcoom's chairman, Md Ayub Ali, and its managing director (MD), Md Ripon Miah, in a fraud case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam passed the order as the accused failed to appear before the court for today's hearing, complainant's counsel Sakibul Islam informed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, complainant Mehedi Hasan Foysal, the owner of 3S Corporation BD, placed an order worth Taka 82.44 lakh during Qcoom's "Big Billion Returns" campaign on June 27, 2021. The agreement stipulated that the products would be delivered within 21 to 25 working days, a commitment the online shopping platform did not meet.
Foysal filed the case against Qcoom's chairman and MD on August 13, 2024, prompting the court to direct the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to look into the matter. The PBI's investigation corroborated the allegations against the duo, leading to a report that the court accepted on January 28. Subsequently, the court had summoned the accused to appear before it today.
